CHODESH TEVET: ELEVATING ANGER TO RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION

Chodesh Tevet always begins during Chanukah, when Jupiter/Tzedek, the planetary ruler of Kislev, and Saturn/Shabbtai , the planetary ruler of Tevet, are joined together by the Chanukah lights.

Jewish astrology understands the cycles of Jupiter and Saturn to describe themes of world history and the energies of an era or epoch. The current Jupiter/Saturn cycle which began in December 2020 with the “Great Conjunction” in Aquarius (the “sign” of the Jewish People) is slowly working to align us with our higher selves, individually and collectively.

The Tikkun of Tevet is the rectification of the attribute of anger. This year of 5784, the “Dalet” year ruled by war-like Mars/Ma’adim, it’s more crucial than it has ever been to elevate anger to its highest source, which is righteous indignation.

Righteous indignation is human anger aligned with G*dly anger. Our Sages warn us continually of the destructive powers of human anger. Used wisely, Tevet’s power turns anger away from others and towards one’s own Yetzer HaRah (“Evil Inclination”) where it belongs. It’s the Yetzer HaRah that misdirects righteous indignation to ego-driven human anger!

The Sun enters Capricorn on Tekufah Tevet, the Winter Solstice, with the Sun and Retrograde Mercury/Kochav sextile to Saturn. Mercury moves “backwards” into Sagittarius on December 22, re-connecting hopeful Jupiter energy to serious Saturn just in time for possibly the most inspirational, idealistic, and aspirational transit of the year, December 26-28: The Full Moon in Cancer, with Retrograde Mercury and Mars square Neptune/Rahav, and the Sun trine Retrograde Jupiter.  This is the week to “wish upon a star”.

Jupiter stations Direct on Shabbos Vayechi, stimulating hope. Retrograde Mercury stations Direct on January 1, with Venus square to Saturn. 2024 does NOT come to play!

Mastering Tevet’s Tikkun by elevating ego-driven anger to righteous indignation spiritually empowers the coming solar year.
